Life Beyond Plastic

“Life Beyond Plastic” is an experiential installation that aims to highlight humans’ plastic obsession and its detrimental consequences to the oceans and the ecosystem. People get to experience how these daily actions are unintentionally posing threats to marine life and our environment as they interact with the everyday plastic objects in this interactive installation.

The virtual shadows morph into different marine animals and come “alive” when people touch the physical plastic objects. The seagull starts to spit out plastic debris; the sea turtle suffocates in water; the dolphin squeaks in pain. These projected animations create powerful connection between what we see as normal plastic products and the actual consequences of their afterlife by revealing the unseen suffering of different marine animals.

Post interaction messages emphasise the over-consumption of disposable plastic products and a reminder for the experiencer about their harmful effects on marine lives.
